Things are getting animated for the Time Lord and their new companion
A brand new trailer for the upcoming second season of Doctor Who has materialized and it looks like we’re in for a wild ride.

The Official trailer (below) plays up the epic scope of this season as Ncuti Gatwa’s Fifteenth Doctor and new friend Belinda (Varada Sethu) travel through time and space – and possibly even realities – on a mission to get The Doctor’s new BFF back to Earth.
The new trailer for one of the best Disney+ series keeps going deeper into the mystery of Belinda, and why exactly she bears more than a passing resemblance to Mundy Flynn, from last season’s Steven Moffat written episode, ‘Boom’.
Ncuti Gatwa is back on Doctor Who season 15 on Disney+ very soon, and much sooner than I anticipated
While showrunner Russell T. Davies original claimed Sethu’s casting was simply a Karen Gillian-like case of a guest actor impressing enough to bag a full-time role, it’s clear from the footage we’ve seen that this is far more akin to Jenna Coleman’s initial appearance as Oswin, later revealed to be one of many versions of Clara scattered throughout The Doctor’s timeline. All will, of course, be revealed, but it makes for a thrilling hook as we start Gatwa’s second season.

That is not the only thing to excite fans’ appetite, though, as we also learn a bit more of Traitors US presenter Alan Cumming’s fresh cartoon baddie Mr Ring-a-Ding, whom we last saw emerging from the screen of a theatre in the 1950s.
This time around however, it’s the Doctor and Belinda getting sucked into the cartoon universe. Gatwa is certainly not the first Doctor to show up in cartoon format – many missing episodes have been resurrected in animation, and David Tennant’s Tenth Doctor had an animated special – but it is a first for an episode of the flagship series.
There’s also another look at the Interstellar Song Contest, presented by Rylan Clark with what looks like a member of New Earth’s feline species, a preview of a return to UNIT HQ with former companion Ruby (Millie Gibson), and lots of rocket ships and robots. Oddly, Anita Dobson’s Mrs. Flood is not around this time of year, although do look out for her to pop up over the course of the season as the intrigue surrounding her builds.
